About the Book: Their unmistakable look and aura of spontaneity made Polaroids a popular photographic medium for decades. With the charm and nostalgia of a family album, this homage to instant photography – compiled from hundreds of photos from the Polaroid Corporation’s collection – shows what can be done with Polaroid film and how it drove photographers to experimental and creative solutions.

Biography: Barbara Hitchcock, as curator for the Polaroid Corporation in Waltham, Massachusetts, is responsible for the acquisition of artistic photographs, as well as the supervision of traveling exhibitions and Polaroid's extensive art collections. She has curated several national exhibitions and is currently working with the Photography Collection Committee of the Harvard University Art Museums in Cambridge.
Originally from California, Steve Crist has edited André de Dienes' Marilyn, William Claxton's Steve McQueen, and The Polaroid Book for TASCHEN.
