About the book: In this voluminous, first volume, Jens Müller recapitulates 70 years of graphic design history, from the 19th century to the economic miracle. Detailed descriptions of particularly striking, trend-setting projects and campaigns, portraits of important designers, timelines for each decade, and an extensive appendix make the volume an encyclopedia of communication design.

Biography: Jens Müller, born in 1982 in Koblenz, studied graphic design in Düsseldorf and has already won numerous national and international design awards. He is Professor for Corporate Design at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and partner of the design studio Vista. As an author and editor, Müller researches the history of graphic design and the development of graphic corporate communication.
Julius Wiedemann studied graphic design and marketing and worked in Tokyo as an art editor for digital media and design magazines. His TASCHEN titles include the Illustration Now! and Record Cover series, as well as collections of infographics and books on advertising and design.
