Biography: Alexander Braun (born 1966) is a visual artist with numerous awards, grants, and exhibitions. In addition to his independent artistic activities, he studied art history in Bochum and Berlin (doctorate in 1996 on the work of American installation artist Robert Gober). Braun has amassed one of the most extensive collections on the history of comics in the last two decades. Since 2008, he has curated numerous museum exhibitions on the subject, including the comprehensive retrospective of Winsor McCay's work in 2012/13. In 2011, he founded the German Academy of Comic Art.
