The new production of new furniture results in high environmental impacts. The Norwegian EPD Foundation calculated in 2020 how much CO₂e is generated during the manufacture of various types of furniture. With the increased purchase of recycled or repaired furniture, less new is produced in the long run. By purchasing a B-stock or second-hand piece of furniture at COCOLI, you actively contribute to the circularity of the product and thus to reduced environmental impact. The CO₂e values we state are average values for various product types, calculated by the EPD and serve only as a reference.
What does CO₂e mean?
Several greenhouse gases contribute to climate change to varying degrees, for example, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and others. To summarize the climate impact of these greenhouse gases, they are converted to their "Global Warming Potential" (GWP), the unit of which is CO₂ equivalents (CO₂e). Depending on the activity, several different greenhouse gases can be emitted. Each greenhouse gas can be expressed as a CO₂ equivalent using the GWP.

CHIPPENSTEEL is a seating object by Oskar Zięta, created through controlled deformation of metal. The material reacts to the predetermined shape, generating a structure that, despite its cool surface, unfolds a soft, textile-like effect. Each chair individually showcases the properties of steel, copper, or aluminum. The design is based on numerous experiments and, in its form, is reminiscent of classic 18th-century English upholstered armchairs. Production involves laser cutting, welding, and inflating metal sheets, thereby creating a three-dimensional seating surface. CHIPPENSTEEL combines modern manufacturing technology with historical design elements and represents the combination of design, technology, and artisanal precision.
Zieta Studio is a design studio that shapes metal in an innovative way. Using its proprietary FiDU technology, the team "inflates" flat metal parts, creating lightweight, stable, and unique objects. Art, technology, and material research are closely intertwined in this process. The studio emphasizes sustainable work, uses durable metals, and produces many of its objects from a single material. This results in furniture and sculptures that are modern, characterful, and functional all at once.
Good quality. During the heating process, thermal coloring, different changes occur in the material, but they are not so visible here. There is a discoloration on the leg here, but it does not have such a bad visual effect.
