The Gashgai are Turkic-speaking nomadic tribes from the region around Shiraz in Southwest Iran. Kilims are double-sided, flat-woven wool carpets with a typical slit tapestry technique, where the colors change at the slits. The carpets show classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs. Colors used include blue, yellow, red, green, and beige.
