This hand-knotted kilim is inspired by the tradition of the Gashgai β Turkic-speaking nomadic tribes from the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. It is a flat-woven, reversible wool carpet with the characteristic slit weave β a weaving technique that creates small slits at the color changes. Typical patterns such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star shapes characterize the design. The color scheme is diverse and includes, among other things, blue, yellow, red, green, and beige.
