Kelim Gashgai Carpet Wool Red

The Kelim originates from the region around Shiraz in Southwest Iran and is made by the Turkish-speaking Gashgai nomads living there. It is a double-sided, flat-woven wool rug made using traditional slit-weaving technique, where characteristic slits are created in the fabric by color changes. The design features classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs, and combines traditional colors like blue, yellow, red, green, and beige, with the red base tone being particularly defining.
