About the book: Whether a museum, sacred building, hyper-modern skyscraper or one of his famous bridges: the neo-futuristic buildings of Santiago Calatrava combine organic forms with sophisticated technical solutions and soar in a bold sweep towards the future – complex, spectacular, unique. An encounter with one of the most innovative architects of our time.

Biography: Santiago Calatrava was born in Valencia, Spain in 1951. He studied at the ETSA in Valencia and earned his doctorate at the ETH Zurich, where he founded his own architecture and civil engineering office in 1981. His most famous buildings include the Milwaukee Art Museum, the opera house in Valencia, the Olympic sports facilities in Athens and the World Trade Center Transportation Hub in New York. The architect, artist and engineer currently has offices in New York, Dubai and Zurich.
Philip Jodidio studied art history and economics at Harvard and was editor-in-chief of the French art magazine Connaissance des Arts for over two decades. His publications with TASCHEN include the series Homes for Our Time as well as monographs on numerous significant architects, including Norman Foster, Tadao Ando, Renzo Piano, Jean Nouvel and Zaha Hadid.
Peter Gössel runs an agency for museum and exhibition design. For TASCHEN, he has edited monographs on Julius Shulman, R. M. Schindler, John Lautner and Richard Neutra as well as several architecture titles in the Basic Art Series.
