CHIPPENSTEEL is a seating object by Oskar Zięta, created through the controlled deformation of metal. The material reacts to the given form and generates a structure that, despite its cool surface, unfolds a soft, textile-like effect. Each chair individually highlights the properties of steel, copper, or aluminum. The design is based on numerous experiments and its form is reminiscent of classic 18th-century English upholstered armchairs. Production involves laser cutting, welding, and inflating sheet metal, creating a three-dimensional seating surface. CHIPPENSTEEL combines modern manufacturing technology with historical design elements and represents the combination of design, technology, and craftsmanship precision.
Zieta Studio is a design studio that shapes metal in an innovative way. Using its proprietary FiDU technology, the team "inflates" flat metal parts, creating lightweight, stable, and unique objects. The material of this Chippensteel chair is raw steel transparently lacquered, therefore there are sometimes visible flaws in the material due to cracks in the base material that are visible under the transparent lacquer.
