The Gashgai are Turkish-speaking nomadic tribes from the region around Shiraz in southwest Iran. Kilims are reversible, flat-woven wool rugs with a characteristic slit weave, where the colors change at the slits. The rugs show typical Gashgai patterns such as rhombuses, squares, stripes and Caucasian star motifs. Colors such as blue, yellow, red, green and beige are used.
