The Kilim originates from the region around Shiraz in southwest Iran and is crafted by the Turkish-speaking Gashgai nomads living there. It is a reversible, flat-woven wool rug made using the traditional slit-weave technique, where color changes create characteristic slits in the fabric. The pattern features classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, as well as Caucasian star motifs, and combines traditional shades such as blue, yellow, red, green, and beige, with the red base tone complemented by a gray border.
