The Gashgai are Turkic-speaking nomadic tribes who live in the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are double-sided, flat wool carpets with a typical slit tapestry technique. This means that the weft has slits where the colors change. The carpets feature classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs.
