About the book: Bright colors, spontaneous brushwork, large-scale application of color, bold motifs and a big mouth: In 1905, four architecture students in Dresden rehearsed the rebellion against the bourgeois art establishment and, with their artist group Die Brücke, formed the nucleus of the Expressionist revolt.
Biography: Ulrike Lorenz studied art history and archaeology at the University of Leipzig and received her doctorate from the Bauhaus University Weimar with a thesis on the avant-garde architect Thilo Schoder (1888–1979). From 1992 to 2004 she was director of the Gera Art Collection and the Otto Dix House. Since 2004 she has been director of the Kunstforum Ostdeutsche Galerie Regensburg, curates numerous exhibitions and publishes on art and architecture of Classical Modernism as well as on contemporary artists.
