CHIPPENSTEEL is a chair design by Oskar Zięta, created through a process of controlled metal deformation. The material reacts to the predetermined shape and generates a characteristic surface, which, despite the use of steel, copper, or aluminum, conveys a soft, upholstered appearance. The design is inspired by classic 18th-century English armchairs and combines historical design language with modern manufacturing technology. The production involves laser cutting, welding, and inflating metal sheets, thereby creating a three-dimensional structure. CHIPPENSTEEL represents the connection of design, technology, and artisanal precision.
Zieta Studio is a design studio that shapes metal in an innovative way. Using its proprietary FiDU technology, the team "inflates" flat metal parts, creating lightweight, stable, and unique objects. Art, technology, and material research are closely intertwined in this process. The studio emphasizes sustainable work, uses durable metals, and produces many of its objects from a single material. This results in furniture and sculptures that are modern, characterful, and functional all at once.
