This Kilim was made following the tradition of the Gashgai – Turkish-speaking, nomadic tribes from the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. These are flat-woven, reversible wool rugs with characteristic slit-weave. This creates small gaps in the fabric at the color changes. Typical patterns are rhombuses, squares, stripes and Caucasian star shapes. The color palette includes blue, yellow, red, green, beige and other tones.
