Biography: Walter Chandoha (1920–2019) was a combat photographer in World War II before a chance encounter with a cat set him on a completely new path. The images of the "father of cat photography" appeared on over 300 magazine covers and in thousands of advertisements, on posters and T-shirts as well as a giant Kodak Colorama in New York's Grand Central Station.
Reuel Golden, former editor-in-chief of the British Journal of Photography, is editor for photography at TASCHEN. For TASCHEN, he has edited titles including Mick Rock: The Rise of David Bowie, the London and New York volumes from the Portrait of a City series, The Rolling Stones, Her Majesty, the National Geographic volumes, the David Bailey SUMO, and Andy Warhol, Polaroids.
