About the Book: The monograph displays over 400 works by Albert Oehlen – from early works such as "Morgenlicht fällt ins Führerhauptquartier" (Morning light falls into the Führer’s Headquarters) (1982) and his computer works of the 1990s to finger paintings, tree silhouettes, and overpainted advertising posters. Oehlen’s work defies expectations, experiments with aesthetics, and continually explores new paths, leading critics like Jerry Saltz to count him among the most influential artists of our time.

Biography: Albert Oehlen (1954, Krefeld) studied at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts and gained international recognition in the 1980s. His work, influenced by Baselitz, Polke, and Richter, focuses on the process of painting and its structures.

Alexander Klar is an art historian, Director of the Hessisches Landesmuseum Wiesbaden, and author of numerous works on Oehlen and modern abstraction. John Corbett, a curator and writer in Chicago, is a partner at the Corbett vs. Dempsey gallery. Martin Prinzhorn teaches linguistics in Vienna and publishes as an art critic. Roberto Ohrt lives in Hamburg, curates exhibitions, and edits artist books for the publisher Silverbridge. Hans Werner Holzwarth designs and publishes monographic Collector’s Editions at TASCHEN, including those on Oehlen, Koons, and Ai Weiwei.
