Biography: Bob Willoughby (1927–2009) took his first photograph at the age of twelve. His exhibitions with shots of jazz musicians and dancers led to a contract with Globe Photos in 1954, followed by assignments for Harper's Bazaar. After photographing Judy Garland on the set of A Star Is Born, he became the first "still photographer" specifically hired by film studios to take shots for promotional purposes during filming. His work appeared in magazines and numerous photo books. Willoughby most recently lived in Vence, in the South of France, where he passed away in 2009.latimes.com
