About the Book: In the 1960s, Dennis Hopper documented film sets, parties, galleries, political rallies, as well as friends and strangers with his camera – a vibrant portrait of the era. The volume was compiled by Hopper himself.
Biography: Dennis Hopper (1936–2010) was an actor, director, artist, and photographer, known from Rebel Without a Cause, Giant, and Easy Rider. In addition to film and television roles, including in Apocalypse Now and Blue Velvet, he worked as a painter and photographer; his works were exhibited worldwide.
Jessica Hundley is an author, filmmaker, and journalist focusing on artists like Hopper, David Lynch, and Gram Parsons, as well as on counterculture themes.
Victor Bockris wrote about Lou Reed, Andy Warhol, Keith Richards, William S. Burroughs, and Patti Smith, among others.
Walter Hopps (1933–2005) was a co-founder of the Ferus Gallery, director of the Pasadena Museum of Art and the Menil Collection, and promoted early retrospectives of Pop Art and avant-garde artists.
Tony Shafrazi opened a gallery in New York in 1979, presented Haring, Basquiat, and Warhol, has represented the estate of Francis Bacon since 1997, and curates internationally acclaimed exhibitions.
