About the Book: This anthology brings together the most popular fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. Beautiful illustrations by legendary artists, introductory essays, introductions to each fairy tale, and an appendix with detailed biographies make this collection a visual delight and reading pleasure that will enchant young and old alike – a childhood journey for every family and a must-have for any art book collection.

Biography: As Germanists, brothers Jacob (1785–1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786–1859) collected over 200 fairy tales such as Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel, which appeared in their collection Kinder- und Hausmärchen (Children's and Household Tales) and influenced generations of writers, artists, and filmmakers.

Hans Christian Andersen (1805–1875) was born in Odense. This imaginative only child, encouraged by his father and patrons, wrote novels, poems, and 168 fairy tales that became international classics. Since 1967, his birthday has been celebrated as International Children's Book Day.

Noel Daniel studied at Princeton University and was a Fulbright Scholar in Berlin. Her TASCHEN publications include TATTOO 1730s–1950s, Kay Nielsen's One Thousand and One Nights, the Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen, and The Winter Fairy Tale Book, Magic, and The Circus.
