This Kilim comes from the Gashgai tradition – a group of Turkic-speaking nomadic tribes in the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are flat-woven, double-sided wool rugs with the characteristic slit weave, where color changes are visible through small gaps in the weave. Typical patterns include rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs. The color palette includes blue, yellow, red, green, and beige, among others.

The siblings Vida and Amin combine their passion for craftsmanship and contemporary design to curate unique, handmade carpets. The pieces are knotted and woven by talented knotters, some of whom still live as nomads and produce them in traditional handwork on wooden looms. Their knowledge, their experience and their individual style flow into each piece. Each carpet is made from natural vintage materials and yarn, authentic, timeless and tells its own story. At COCOLI you will find handmade unique pieces from Rugtales – designed with attention to detail and created to enrich spaces.
