This Kelim rug originates from the Gashgai, Turkic-speaking nomads from the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are double-sided, flat-woven wool rugs with a characteristic slit tapestry technique, where the colors change at the slits. The rugs display typical Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian stars. The colors used include blue, yellow, red, green, and beige.
