The Gashgai are Turkic-speaking nomadic tribes from the region around Shiraz in Southwest Iran. Kilims are double-sided, flat-woven wool rugs with a typical slit tapestry technique, where the colors change at the slits. The rugs feature classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs. The color palette includes blue, yellow, red, green, and beige.
