The Gashgai are Turkish-speaking nomadic tribes living in the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are double-sided, flat wool carpets with a typical slit tapestry technique. This means that the weft has slits where the colors change. The carpets feature classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs. Colors like blue, yellow, red, green, and beige are used.
