This kilim originates from the culturally rich environment of the Gashgai, a Turkic-speaking nomadic community from the region around Shiraz in Southwest Iran. Typical for Gashgai kilims is their usability on both sides as well as the flat slit weave, which creates characteristic weaving slits through color changes. The design includes traditional motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star shapes. For coloring, strong natural tones such as blue, yellow, red, green, and beige are often used.
