This Kilim originates from the traditional environment of the Gashgai, a Turkic-speaking nomadic community from the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. The carpets of this group are characterized by their reversible, flat slit-weave, in which characteristic weaving slits are created by color changes. Typical design elements are rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs. In terms of color, strong natural tones such as blue, yellow, red, green, and beige are often used, giving the carpet an authentic and vibrant appearance.
