The Gashgai are Turkish-speaking nomadic tribes who live in the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are double-sided, flat wool carpets with a typical slit weave. This means that the weft has slits where the colors change. The carpets feature classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs. Colors such as blue, yellow, red, green, and beige are used.
The siblings Vida and Amin combine their passion for craftsmanship and contemporary design to curate unique, handmade carpets. The pieces are knotted and woven by talented knotters, some of whom still live as nomads and produce them in traditional handwork on wooden looms. Their knowledge, their experience and their individual style flow into each piece. Each carpet is made from natural vintage materials and yarn, authentic, timeless and tells its own story.
