About the Book: Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519) is an exceptional figure, even in the Renaissance, which was not lacking in geniuses. Biography: Frank Zöllner wrote his dissertation on an ancient motif in medieval and Renaissance art and architectural theory (1987) and his habilitation on Leonardo da Vinci's studies of motion (published 2010). He has authored numerous publications on Renaissance art and art theory, as well as on 20th-century art. Since 1996, he has been Professor of Medieval and Modern Art History at the University of Leipzig. At TASCHEN, he has published XL monographs on Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. Johannes Nathan studied art history at New York University and the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. In 1995, he received his doctorate there on Leonardo da Vinci's working methods. He is the author of numerous art historical studies and, in addition to his work as director of Nathan Fine Art (Berlin/Zurich), is regularly involved in art historical teaching (currently at TU Berlin).
