These rugs are made in the province of Khorasan. The design originates from the province of Nain in central Iran, near the Dasht-e Kavir salt desert. Nains are known for their color scheme of white/beige and light blue/dark blue. The pile is a mixture of wool and mercerized cotton, which is soft with a beautiful sheen. The intricate designs are based on miniature paintings and decorations. Dominant motifs are arabesques, vines, blossoms, leaves, and medallions.
The siblings Vida and Amin combine their passion for craftsmanship and contemporary design to curate unique, handmade carpets. The pieces are knotted and woven by talented knotters, some of whom still live as nomads and produce them in traditional handwork on wooden looms. Their knowledge, their experience and their individual style flow into each piece. Each carpet is made from natural vintage materials and yarn, authentic, timeless and tells its own story. At COCOLI you will find handmade unique pieces from Rugtales – designed with attention to detail and created to enrich spaces.
A handmade unique piece – designed and manufactured by experienced weavers who combine centuries-old tradition with personal style. Made from sustainable, natural materials.
