Biography: No other contemporary American writer was as versatile, brilliant, prolific, and controversial as Norman Mailer (1923–2007). Mailer is one of the most influential authors of the second half of the 20th century. He wrote a dozen novels, twenty non-fiction books, reportages, plays, screenplays, and television series, hundreds of essays, two poetry collections, and a collection of short stories. The two-time Pulitzer Prize winner lived in Brooklyn, New York, and in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Colum McCann is the author of eight books, including Let the Great World Spin, and has written for The New York Times, Atlantic Monthly, GQ, The Times (London), The Irish Times, and La República.
