This Gabbeh rug is traditionally made by the Gashgai and Lori nomads in the Fars province around Shiraz. Originally, Gabbeh rugs served as bedding, as their high pile provides warmth. The hand-spun, lanolin-rich wool gives the rug its typical grainy structure and makes it pleasantly soft. The color palette ranges from natural cream, brown, and gray tones to strong colors made with plant dyes. Most Gabbehs are simple, but when motifs occur, they show stylized scenes from the everyday life of the nomads: animals such as goats, camels, or dogs, plants, and people.

The siblings Vida and Amin combine their passion for craftsmanship and contemporary design to curate unique, handmade carpets. The pieces are knotted and woven by talented knotters, some of whom still live as nomads and produce them in traditional handwork on wooden looms. Their knowledge, their experience and their individual style flow into each piece. Each carpet is made from natural vintage materials and yarn, authentic, timeless and tells its own story.
