Rizbaf Gabbeh Carpet Wool Multicolor

This handmade Gabbeh carpet comes from the Fars province around Shiraz and is traditionally crafted by Gashgai and Lori nomads. Originally, Gabbeh carpets served as sleeping mats, as their high pile provides extra warmth. The use of hand-spun, lanolin-rich wool gives the surface a characteristic, slightly grainy texture, making the carpet both soft and comfortable. The colors are derived from natural plant dyes and range from classic cream, brown, and gray tones to strong red, yellow, green, and blue hues. Most Gabbehs are simple, but occasionally stylized motifs from the daily lives of the nomads, such as animals, plants, or people, can be found.
