Biography: José López-Rey (1905–1991) studied art history in Madrid, Florence, Brussels, Paris, and Vienna. After emigrating to the USA in 1939, he taught at the Institute of Fine Arts in New York and was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Southern Methodist University, among other accolades for his achievements. He published over 100 academic papers and ten books, particularly on Goya and Velázquez.

Odile Delenda was a professor at the École du Louvre and special curator of the painting collection at the Louvre. Since 1990, she has worked at the Wildenstein Institute in Paris, researching Spanish art of the Golden Age, including publications on Velázquez and Francisco de Zurbarán.
