About the book
The Wiener Werkstätte (1903–1933) was an avant-garde alliance of artists and designers dedicated to craftsmanship, incorporating all areas of life into a harmonious Gesamtkunstwerk. Under the direction of Josef Hoffmann, Koloman Moser, and Fritz Waerndorfer, furniture, ceramics, textiles, typography, and buildings such as the Purkersdorf Sanatorium or the Palais Stoclet were created. Despite its short existence, the Werkstätte had a lasting influence on the development of Art Deco and Bauhaus and remains a model for stylistic holism.
