French Reims-glass manufacturers like Verreries MΓ©caniques Champenoises (VMC) shaped the production of decorative glassware in the 1960s and 1970s β often with colorful, geometric patterns and clear pressed glass shapes. Production usually took place under the label "Reims France", which signals genuine French mid-century design and is valued today on online marketplaces for vintage glass. Later, VMC was taken over by the US company OwensβIllinois, which continued to operate the plant until 2009. Reims-glass thus stands for a combination of traditional French glassblowing art and industrial design production.
