Rainer Hagen, born in Hamburg, studied literature and theater sciences in Munich. After his doctorate, he worked for radio and television, most recently as head of editorial at Norddeutscher Rundfunk. Together, both authors have published several books with TASCHEN Verlag, including *Masterpieces in Detail* and monographs on Pieter Bruegel and Francisco de Goya.
