About the Book: Although it was closed by the Nazis after only 14 years, the Bauhaus profoundly shaped the history of modernism. This book explores the ideas and ideals of the art school, which advocated absolute artistic freedom and the connection between art and technology.

Biography: Magdalena Droste studied art history and literary studies in Aachen and Marburg. From 1980, she worked at the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin, after which she was a professor of art history at BTU Cottbus. She has been responsible for numerous exhibitions and publications on all topics and artists of the Bauhaus.
Peter Gössel runs an agency for museum and exhibition design. For TASCHEN, he has edited monographs on Julius Shulman, R. M. Schindler, John Lautner, and Richard Neutra, as well as several architecture titles in the Little Series.
