Sjælsø wurde von Eva und Mette in Dänemark gegründet. Sie glauben fest an das Recycling und haben es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, schöne alte Gegenstände und Möbel zu finden und zu erhalten und sie in rustikale Einrichtungsgegenstände für nordische Häuser zu verwandeln. Ihr Ziel ist es, ihre Produkte so ursprünglich wie möglich zu halten und deshalb "erzählt jedes der Produkte immer eine authentische, eigene Geschichte." Jedes Produkt, egal ob es sich um upgecycelte Möbel oder recycelte Einrichtungsgegenstände handelt, ist handverlesen, um Authentizität, Wärme und einen Hauch von Geschichte in Wohnräume zu bringen.
