Andy Warhol's "Campbell’s Soup Cans" are among the most famous and celebrated works in art history. The creation of this series began around 1961, and the theme would take on various forms in the following years. The "Ferus" variant of the Campbell’s Soup Can Paintings, named after the thirty paintings of individual soup cans exhibited at the Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles, are the largest and best-known works in this series. For these paintings, Warhol painted the famous red and white soup cans according to a product list provided by the Campbell Soup Company, ticking off each soup type as it was completed. A later series of Campbell’s Soup Cans, created around 1965, consists of nineteen cans in different colors. Here, Warhol not only used ink colors that differed from the actual colors but also sprayed the background and the lower (white) part of the label with various colors. The result was a collection that was both surprising and familiar. With these groundbreaking works, Warhol challenged our notions of art.

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) is undoubtedly one of the most important and well-known artists of the 20th century. His influence extends far beyond art and has had a lasting impact on the style and lifestyle of our society. The 1960s were an extremely productive decade for Warhol. By incorporating images from pop culture, Warhol created many iconic paintings, including the Campbell’s Soup Cans and the Marilyns.
