CHIPPENSTEEL is a seating object by Oskar ZiΔta, created through controlled deformation of metal. The material reacts to the given form, creating a structure that, despite its cool surface, unfolds a soft, textile-like effect. Each chair individually showcases the properties of steel, copper, or aluminum. The design is based on numerous experiments and its form is reminiscent of classic 18th-century English upholstered armchairs. Production involves laser cutting, welding, and inflating metal sheets, resulting in a three-dimensional seating surface. CHIPPENSTEEL combines modern manufacturing technology with historical design elements and stands for the combination of design, engineering, and craftsmanship precision.
Zieta Studio is a design studio that shapes metal in an innovative way. Using its proprietary FiDU technology, the team "inflates" flat metal parts, creating lightweight, stable, and unique objects. Art, technology, and material research are closely intertwined in this process. The studio emphasizes sustainable work, uses durable metals, and produces many of its objects from a single material. This results in furniture and sculptures that are modern, characterful, and functional all at once.
