CHIPPENSTEEL is a seating object by Oskar ZiΔta, created through controlled deformation of metal. The material reacts to the given form, producing a structure that, despite its cool surface, unfolds a soft, textile-like effect. Each chair individually highlights the properties of steel, copper, or aluminum. The design is based on numerous experiments and, in its form, is reminiscent of classic English upholstered armchairs from the 18th century. Production involves laser cutting, welding, and inflating metal sheets, thereby creating a three-dimensional seating surface. CHIPPENSTEEL combines modern manufacturing technology with historical design elements and stands for the combination of design, technology, and craftsmanship precision.
Zieta Studio is a design studio that shapes metal in an innovative way. Using its proprietary FiDU technology, the team "inflates" flat metal parts, creating lightweight, stable, and unique objects. Art, technology, and material research are closely intertwined in this process. The studio emphasizes sustainable work, uses durable metals, and produces many of its objects from a single material. This results in furniture and sculptures that are modern, characterful, and functional all at once.
Good quality. The material of this Chippensteel chair is raw steel coated transparently, therefore there are sometimes visible flaws in the material due to cracks in the base material, which are visible under the transparent lacquer. Here on the seat and the leg. It is more of an industrial look of the product, which allows for different material defects. Lacquering defects are visible in some places. The foot design has been changed.
