The Hand of Fatima — also known as Hamsa — is an ancient symbol for protection, faith, and blessing, present in the spiritual traditions of North Africa, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean. In the Islamic context, it is associated with Fátima Zahra, the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, and represents patience, strength, and spiritual loyalty. In Jewish tradition, it is known as the Hand of Miriam and symbolizes divine protection and vigilance against the evil eye. Over centuries, the open hand has transcended religions and become a universal sign of care, protection, and presence. In this work, the hand appears as an offered, not imposed, gesture: a hand that protects without dominating, that blesses without demanding. The five fingers — a sacred number in many cultures — embody balance, awareness, and the connection of body, mind, and soul. The work proposes an intimate and transversal spirituality, in which the symbolic liberates itself from the dogmatic. The Hand of Fatima here becomes a bridge between faiths, a shared space where faith is experienced through sensitivity, intuition, and inner listening. The work invites trust, letting go, and feeling accompanied. A visual amulet that protects, reminds, and holds.
