Biography: Adele Schlombs studied Sinology, East Asian and European art history, and comparative religious studies at the universities in Cologne and Heidelberg. From 1984 to 1987, she studied at Kyoto University and received her doctorate in Heidelberg in 1989. In 1991, she took over the directorship of the Museum of East Asian Art in Cologne and has since organized numerous exhibitions with loans of Japanese and Chinese art.
