About the Book: Japanese woodblock prints are a phenomenon without a Western counterpart. In addition to breathtaking landscapes and erotic scenes, they depict terrifying ghosts and demons as well as sumo wrestlers, Kabuki actors, and courtesans who are celebrated by their fans like pop stars. This handy anniversary edition presents the most extraordinary masterpieces from 1680 to 1938, with the best prints gathered from museums and collections worldwide.
