This Kilim was crafted in the tradition of the Gashgai β Turkic-speaking, nomadic tribes from the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. They are flat-woven, reversible wool carpets with a characteristic slit-weave. This creates small gaps in the weave at the color changes. Typical patterns are rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star shapes. The color palette includes blue, yellow, red, green, beige, and other tones.
