This Kilim was crafted in the tradition of the Gashgai β a group of Turkish-speaking, nomadic tribes from the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. It is a reversible, flat-woven wool carpet with a typical slit weave. This creates small slits in the weave at the color changes. The patterns show classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian stars. Various colors are used, including blue, yellow, red, green, and beige.
