The Gashgai are Turkic-speaking nomadic tribes from the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are double-sided, flat-woven wool carpets with a characteristic slit tapestry technique, where the colors change at the slits. Typical Gashgai patterns include rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs. Colors used are blue, yellow, red, green, and beige.
