The Kelim originates from the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran and is crafted by the Turkish-speaking Gashgai nomads living there. It is a double-sided, flat-woven wool carpet made using the traditional slit-tapestry technique, which creates characteristic slits in the fabric through color changes. The pattern shows classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs, and combines traditional color tones like blue, yellow, red, green, and beige, with the violet base tone accented by a yellow border.
