The Gashgai are Turkic-speaking nomadic tribes from the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are double-sided, flat-woven wool carpets with a characteristic slit tapestry technique, where the colors change at the slits. The carpets display typical Gashgai patterns such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs. Colors such as blue, yellow, red, green, and beige are used.
