<div>The Gashgai are Turkic-speaking nomadic tribes who live in the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are reversible, flat wool carpets with a typical slit tapestry technique. This means that the weft has slits where the colors change. The carpets feature classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star motifs. Colors such as blue, yellow, red, green, and beige are used.</div>
